UNDERSTANDING GICLEE PIGMENT PRINTS

A giclee pigment print is as rewarding visually as it is technically amazing. For brilliant, exquisite color and razor sharp detail it is unsurpassed.

This type of art reproduction has become a  new standard in the art industry, and is widely embraced for its quality by major museums, galleries, publishers, and artists. What this means to you is that you can now own the closest duplication of an original artwork that is humanly, mechanically, or technically available at an affordable price.

To explain briefly, the giclee pigment printmaking process starts out with a computer scan of the original. Since this is not a photographic process, as used in making lithographs, the colors are true and exact. The artist may choose to correct a very small area without affecting the rest of the color. Printing the image involves a particular printer, which has been modified for the precision of fine art printing. From each of 10 nozzles, more than a million droplets of ink per second, much smaller than the size of a human cell, are sprayed on FINE ART PAPER.

The resulting print has no perceptible dot pattern, an endless array of richly saturated color, and every nuance of the original image. The giclee pigment image that you select will be the best representation of ROB GONZO's original work that is available, at a price that you will consider a value.

Rob Gonzo's Giclee Prints are made with 200-year fade-resistant pigment ink, and they are typically printed on museum quality 225 gram acid free paper.
